The Resiliency of the Human Spirit Program

A person with a disability is defined by the ADA (American Disability Act) as a person who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activity. Most of the time, disability affects mobility, vision, hearing and cognition. According to the American Community Survey (ACS), the overall percentage of people with disabilities in the US in 2016 was 12.8%.

The program "The Resiliency of the Human Spirit" draws inspiration from the innumerable amount of people that withstand multiple crises or illnesses and continue to get back up with a fighting spirit. This program will consist of organizing an art exhibition of works created by people with physical or mental disabilities in the New Haven area of Connecticut. The exhibition may include paintings, calligraphy, sculptures, handicraft, photography and art exchange activities. This event will promote the inclusion of disabled persons in society, specifically in the realm of art.

Event date to be announced.
